The Service Technician:
Service Technician (“Tech”) is responsible for the installation, maintenance and repairs of our customers systems and equipment. Tech must also be detail orientated and have good interpersonal skills that give our customer base confidence in our abilities. Tech will work directly with their Team Leader and Service Manager to deliver high quality repairs and services.

Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- 5 plus years experience in mechanical and HVAC industry
- Preferred Certifications:
- EPA Certification
- Natural Gas Certification
- LP Gas Certification
- Silver Certification
- Electrical S License
- Ability to work in extreme weather/temperature conditions
- Strong practical problem-solving skills
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical specifications, architectural drawings, construction documentation and electrical diagrams
Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
- Maintain, diagnose, and make repairs to a wide range of HVAC&R equipment
- Using and maintaining company provided tools in a proper manner
- Working in conformance with all company, customer, and government safety regulations
- Install assembly in plants or worksites according to blueprints and specifications using hand tools and portable power tools
- Inspect assembly and installations for conformance with required specifications by using measuring instruments and reference material
- Handling and organizing required tools and materials in preparation of installation
- Organizing and cleaning work areas to maximize efficiency and safety
- Complete and submit daily/weekly Pre-Task-Plans and Tool Box Talks
- Ability and willingness to be on-call nights and weekends as required by Operations Manager
- Ability and willingness to travel to local as well as remote locations (out of town or out of state) for short and/or extended periods of time
- Show initiative and independence (must be able to work alone most of the time)
- Communicate and interface effectively with all VHV office and field staff. Demonstrate excellent listening and communication skills
- Be familiar with and follow all VHV Safety Standards and Protocols
- Teach apprentices as need and when necessary
- Ensure all applicable codes and standards are being met regarding installation
- Ability to recognize and report all unsafe working conditions
- Working in a team environment to meet or exceed productivity, quality and safety goals
- Seeks information from other sources (co-workers, manufactures) if system is beyond their capability
- Accurately quote repairs by working with Team Leader for guidance, as needed
- Informs Service Coordinator of job progress, checks in and out daily
- Keep detailed records of work performed and labor charged to our customers, and consistently get paperwork into office in a timely and accurate manner
- Document deficiencies with customer equipment and systems
- Maximize billable time and minimize overhead time by resolving work orders, preventive maintenances and jobs in a timely and efficient manner
- Show up on time and ready to work each day
- Adhere to VHV’s policies and procedures while representing and promoting the company in a professional manner
- Maintain certifications required to perform the above duties and attend additional training to expand knowledge of service and repair process

This is a field-based position. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- Travel requirement for this position is 100%
- Ability to hear and verbally communicate effectively
- Ability to stand or walk for extended periods of time
- Workers must be able to see well (either naturally or with correction)
- Use hands, fingers, arms, and legs to safely manipulate objects
- Lift and carry tools and materials weighing up to 75 lbs (average lift less than 50 lbs)
- Climb up and down, balance and work safely on a minimum 30-foot ladder and scaffolding 15 feet or more in the air
- Requires ability to walk, climb, stand, carry materials, stoop, kneel, bend at waist
- The employee regularly works outside and is occasionally exposed to cold, wet and or humid conditions
- Work regularly occurs at jobsites where exposure to construction related hazards exist, including working near moving mechanical parts, working in high and precarious places and confined spaces
- Wear the Proper PPE: safety boots that cover at least the ankle, clean denim or appropriate work pants without tears or rips, VHV logo preferably on the work shirt or jacket (depending on weather), safety glasses, gloves, and your hand tool bag
